Modern Dentistry
| I just came back from the dentist.
I had four cavities filled today, which... sucked. But my dentist is a very nice man, very concerned about my being okay. I am not afraid of needles, but getting my teeth drilled is kind of awful for me, because of the combination of sound and smell. That awful noise, like someone trying to find a station on an old radio (I kept expecting to hear a tinny voice come out of my mouth "Space control? Space control come in this is Moon Base Delta"). And the smell, of burning (knowing I'm breathing teeth dust doesn't help) awfulness. Really it's everything I can do to keep from going into a panic attack in the chair. The dentist's office is one of the few places where I really -don't- want to know what's going on (usually I want to know everything so as to not make things so scary. But I'm pretty sure knowing more about what's going on would make my anxieties worse. If you don't believe me, take a good look at the instruments they use, then think about whether or not you want to know why he needs 5 different kinds of drill bits), so I spent an hour and a half with my eyes closed mentally singing musical numbers REALLY loudly.
Whirrrrrrr
(I am the very model of a modern major general, I've information veg-e-ta-ble animal and)
WHIIRRRRRRRRrrRRRrrRRRrrrrr(Mineral I Know the Kings of England And I Quote the Fights Historical)WHIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR(FROM MARATHON TO WATERLOO IN ORDER CATEGORICAL!)
If it hadn't been you know, awful, it would have been hilarious.
I go back in three weeks to get the other side of my mouth done. Oh frabjuous day.
