awesome!

Today was great! I woke up early to write a quick three page essay for my seminar, and it turned out alright, not Ph.D worthy, but whatever. Then in seminar, I totally was on the ball. I was able to answer two obscure questions that no one else in the room knew (through guesswork but whatever), and I'll share them with you. What was Taiwan's major export under colonial Japan? and what was Korea's major export? Think about that. Anyway, its nice to know that even though I am the only white girl in the room, that all of these Asian people (many of whom studied in Korea) aren't waaaay better than me. Also it's great to discuss historical things in depth with people who did the reading! (in a class of eight, you'd better) So yeah, that was great. Then on my way across campus, I ran into Antionette, my favorite waitress who used to work at Baker's Square. She's back there for the quarter, which is great, next chance I get I am going there. Then I ran into Lan Phan, a girl from my highschool, who I really like. She's a history major (also doing American Studies), and we had the coolest conversation. Its so wonderful to be able to talk to someone using your history knowledge, it makes you feel like your studies are worthwhile. Then as I headed towards the Silo, I ran into Sterling! We were planning on hanging out this weekend, so I just took him home with me. We went out to chinese food, it was good. I saw Rashomon, it was good, not fantastically awesome like everyone says, but enjoyable. I just took him home. My day was cool, and its nice to have a cool day.

PS. Taiwan: sugar
PPS Korea: cement (no joke)

Cement? Ce-... cement? Really? That's crazy. I mean, yeah, I guess it's exportable... but the major export? Doesn't Korea have anything to grow? What does it say about a country? "Her, take the most abuntand and valuable resource we have to offer: rocks!" Poor Korea.

Also, hooray for cool days!

Yeah well, when you're starting an empire, you need to build a lot of factories, and to do that, you need cement. Korea has a lot of sand, gravel and salt... I mean Japan exported rice, but not that much... some gold too... but nope the winner was cement. Its funny how you can forget the mundane parts of empire building.

Aw, but look how it makes your comment count shoot up! Up to five! Awesome! I love getting lots of comments! I wish I got five every day!

quality over quantity, though! (which is why double posts annoy me, they automatically depreciate the value of the original comment! Its an economic crisis!)
