x men ramble

ah, x-men, I love you, I love you too deeply. I saw the first movie again, a sort of early warm up for the third. I have to admit, I never read the books (the "graphic novels"), but boy oh boy did I watch that tv show. I even watched the crappy newer version when it came out, hoping for some of the old goodness to shine through. It didn't, but I -tried-. I was always so attached to Rogue (I distinctly remember writing a whole bunch of -terrible- short stories when I was little about a guinea pig named Rogue that were nothing but blatant rip offs of my favorite episodes (the illustrations were fun though). Rogue was awesome, true her powers as such aren't the best, she flies (how, I'm not sure) and she absorbs stuff, but she does it with -style-. She's not a wimp like Jean Gray, and she doesn't have to fall back on that mystic shtick like Storm. A note about Jean Gray: (I'm not even going to talk about her crappy superheorine name) why is she so desirable? She's basically got a weaker form of the Professor's ability plus she can move stuff around. I don't know what Logan sees in her, and I don't understand Cyclops at all. She's the weak sister and she has men fighting over her (although I bet Cyclops and Wolverine would fight over the last bowl of cereal, they just hate eachother). Wolverine, he's a tempting choice, tough, Canadian, a protector, but you know, he's -moody-. I just can't imagine that being too much fun to be around. Gambit is by far the better choice, sexy, fun loving, can light things on fire, beady red eyes... okay that last one isn't an attactive quality. I guess the best choice is Hank, but no one seems to give him any mind, he's just supersmart and blue. He lacks an accent, that's his real problem. I always like Morph, too, he looked like fun, if a bit unpredictable.

Man, I'm such a girl, as interested as I was in all of the intricacies of the plots, I was really in it to see who got together.

PS Mr Sinister, man, that's fun to say.

Myself, I was always a Nightcrawler girl. Teleportation is the bomb, plus underneath all the fur he's really just a happy-go-lucky sort of mutant. The only good thing about the newer, crappier version of the X-Men was that he had more screen time (although they had to drop the major religious side of his personality to sanitize him for Saturday mornings).

And with one comment I've just branded myself as a super dork.

I really like to read, overanalyze things, and dance, maybe not in that order. Oh, I also believe in being intellectual and silly.
