the fair!
| | I went to the State Fair today.
I love the State Fair. I love the booths, the award winning projects, the fuzzy (and not so fuzzy) animals, the whole shebang. Ed and I went in the early afternoon, saw some adorable baby animals (baby quail are much cuter than baby chickens) and I got to pet a hairless cat. It was ugly as hell, but she was really soft to the touch, and I wasn't allergic. We also saw some acrobats, I never knew people could do so much while keeping ten plates spinning at once. The UCDavis centennial was kind of lame, but I did get to feed plastic vegetables to a very hungry machine (something to do with renewable energy sources or something. The important thing was that there were buttons to push).
I saw quilts (it would have been much more fun except that this annoying 10 year old girl kept singing show tunes... both shrilly and incorrectly), and a whole state worth of county displays. Best county booth: I liked Santa Cruz, very colorful and interactive. Worst: Alpine, it was a frame of a school house... and nothing else. Also quite bad, Butte's, which was an animatronic singing tree.
I also saw pregnant cows (cows are fucking huge!), and brand new goat kids. I walked through a floritopia that was Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull themed. I saw bugs, and a whole display of pinned beetles.
And we rode a ski-lift, went to the midway rode the Wild Mouse, and spent too much money. It was really really fun.

OH NOES did i miss it?! DID I REALLY MISS IT?! ugh tell me it's going on next weekend at least >_< i want to go!!
It just started Friday, you have until Labor Day. Don't worry!
AH LABOR DAY AND I MISSED THIS WEEKEND!!!! my time is short! XD
