an update
| I have finished my first week at my new job.
Wow.
It's amazing how something can be both boring and ridiculously exciting at the same time.
The work is boring... I enter stuff into computers all day. I spent an hour scanning several hundred pages into a computer, and then had to spend another hour scanning them again when the computer only saved the last ten pages. But the stuff I enter is pretty exciting, I get to see the Process At Work. I scanned a years worth of correspondence regarding the nomination of a particular historic district to the Cal register, and it was so informative. You know how people say write your congressman, and you (I) think that the letters are essentially dropped into a void? Well, I can't speak for congressional archives, but OHP keeps meticulous records of everyone who writes them letters (even if they only say things like "MAKE THIS A HISTORIC DISTRICT" or "DO NOT MAKE THIS A HISTORIC DISTRICT"). They are looked at, at least, even if it is only by office technicians and interns such as myself.
So, that is terribly exciting.
Also, I get to take mass transit into work. Which is kind of fun in and of itself, in a "I'm a grown up with a job in the city" type way. I'm sure in a couple of months it won't be nearly so interesting.
